A spokesman for the fashion retail group, which owns chains which includes Topshop, Topman, Skip Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Burton, reported store employees ”have not been built redundant”, but the business reported it would continue to “review the situation”.
The business reported: “The health and fitness and wellbeing of our staff, shoppers and communities remains our greatest precedence and we continue to carefully follow the federal government recommendations.
“In line with a lot of other merchants the group has built the complicated final decision to shut until further more observe all of our shops from 4pm this afternoon [20 March]. All store employees stay staff throughout this time and will be paid out their regular fork out for March as well as any excellent extra time payments, immediately after which we will evaluate this predicament and will be trying to keep our store groups updated.
“In the meantime we will be focusing on our digital and social platforms to retain our shoppers engaged throughout this demanding time.”
