ART ELEMENTS BLOG HOP SEPTEMBER THEME: FOLIAGE

This is my very first time participating in an Art Things Blog site Hop.  I was intrigued by the topic of foliage considering the fact that that has been my theme for most of the a long time I have been producing ceramic beads.  I generally make a mould from plants and use it as the basis for pendants, toggle clasps and cabochons.  I normally hand paint on the coloured glazes and almost in no way use underglazes. The photograph previously mentioned is a sample of pendants in my regular way of making.

For some time I have been wondering about other strategies of generating leaves and bouquets.  I have a collection of dried leaves that have fallen off a rubber plant I have in the dwelling. I appreciate their swish move and lyrical traces and kind.

                                    My dried useless leaves assortment

I made a decision I needed to hand develop my leaves and flowers. These leaves (pictured over) and some Victorian botanical drawings were being my inspiration.  I constrained my resources to using an orange wood cuticle adhere for makings the markings  on the leaves. My clay overall body was a white stoneware clay which I fire to cone 5 (a bit previously mentioned 2100 degrees F.)  I began small but as time went on my leaves got bigger and even larger.

When it arrived to glazing what I produced I was a bit stymied at initially.  I made the decision to try some underglazes which I will not usually like simply because they are so stiff.  But I desired all those people markings to exhibit up by the other glazes I made use of.  So I tried using out a black and a blue.  I was not sad with the consequence.

What am I going to do with all of these creations?  I prepare to use them in some of my totally free sort peyote stitch jewellery.  And some I have put in my Etsy shop.

This has been a wonderful working experience for me to be in this web site hop.
