WEDDING season is now in full swing but the cost of being a bridesmaid is creeping up.
Oasis Fashion reckons the average spend on a single bridesmaid’s dress is now £114.

Whether you are a bride buying dresses for your maids or a bridesmaid getting hold of your own, here is how to cut the cost of gowns and still look glam . . .
REWEAR IT: If you are a bride on a tight budget, do not go over the top.
Choose a colour most of us have in our wardrobes, such as navy. All the bridesmaids can wear their own dresses in that shade.
You can eaily bring the theme together by picking an accent ribbon to then tie around the bridesmaids’ waists and bouquets. Pick up 15 metres of pink satin ribbon at Hobbycraft for £1.
LOVE TO LOVE AGAIN: Check secondhand sites such as Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree, Shpock and Depop for bridesmaids’ dresses sold as a bundle.
I spotted a set of six blue Debenhams’ bridesmaid dresses auctioned on eBay for £53 in total.
SOMETHING BORROWED: “It’s nothing new for the fellas to rent their tux,” says wedding planner and coordinator, Laura Devine of devinebride.co.uk.
“Women can do the same thanks to shopping apps like Rotaro, My Wardrobe HQ and my fave, By Rotation, picking up designer dresses for the cost of a round of cocktails.”
GIVE AND GET: Oxfam has dedicated bridal stores around the country or head to oxfam.org.uk to find a great selection.
I saw kids’ bridesmaid dresses from just £4.99 and adults’ from £23.99.
GO HIGH STREET: Flower girls and their parents should check out Primark’s selection with little lace white dresses for kids starting at £8.
Meanwhile, H&M’s satin blush or pale blue bridemaids dresses come in wraparound, pleated and slip-dress styles, starting at £39.99.
