GOOD NEWS: MC students receive scholarships

MIDLAND Midland College officers introduced a new partnership with Ovintiv United states, Inc. by way of the award of $8,000 in scholarships for Energy Technologies college students on Tuesday.

1 of North America’s oldest oil and all-natural gasoline producers, Ovintiv’s roots go again to the late 1800s when employees for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) drilled a water properly and discovered purely natural gasoline. Because the early 2000s, Ovintiv has concentrated on North American “resource performs.” In 2007, Ovintiv’s lifestyle of knowledge sharing led to the transfer of horizontal drilling strategies, 1st employed in the Barnett Shale of Texas, to Canada’s Montney formation, in which it was effectively refined and returned to Texas. Currently, Ovintiv has a multi-basin portfolio anchored by huge, contiguous positions in the heart of the Permian and Anadarko basins, and the Montney.

“We are very grateful to Ovintiv,” Pete Avalos, MC application chair of Automotive, Diesel and Energy Know-how, stated. “Their motivation to advancing Permian Basin workforce advancement is demonstrated via their financial commitment in awarding scholarships to our Power Technologies students.”

MC and Ovintiv recognized scholarship recipients Sebastian Hernandez, Donnett Perry, Diego Ramos, Nyck Reyna, Logan Stricklen and Edward Torres. These students have GPAs in excess of 3. and, in addition to taking courses, are utilized complete- or component-time.

MC’s Electricity Technological innovation system prepares learners for occupations that reward the oil and gasoline business within the Permian Basin. MC delivers two Energy Technological know-how credentials—an Affiliate of Applied Science diploma and a Petroleum Power Technician certificate.
