Holiday Creations Art Elements Blog Hop

About the time I realized the concept for this month’s Art Factors website hop: Holiday getaway Creations, I was setting up to make a set of kitty cat themed ornaments for a tree for our growing old cat.  We have a new glassed in front porch and believed it would be a best way to embellish it for the Holidays.  And for ceramic ornaments, it would be secure from the aspects.

For the previous couple yrs we have been getting an outside tree as an alternative on a single inside.  We have it out on the deck and adorn it with brightly colored netted fowl treats.  It is so entertaining looking at the birds flutter close to the tree and peck at these “house baked” goodies of birdseed and peanut butter.  So this calendar year we have 2 Christmas trees.
For our kitty cat tree, I utilized cat shaped cutters to cut out the decorations.

They appeared quite significant at initially but my clay shrinks about 11 % so they looked substantially greater once they were being bisque fired.
I applied two procedures to bring my cat decorations to life.  For some I silk screened on cat drawings (Mayco silkscreens) bisqued them and then additional color

and for other individuals I did some drawing into the clay.  They dried truly rapidly so by the time I received to them to scratch  in some strains, the incisions ended up not very deep.  To make improvements to them I made use of a black underglaze and then wiped it off, bisque fired them

and then hand painted on glazes and fired individuals to cone 5 ( earlier mentioned 2100 degrees F)

Eventually I adorned the tree.
