Kamala Harris switches outfits for inauguration concert
First day on the occupation phone calls for two outfits.
Vice President Kamala Harris joined the “Celebrating America” inauguration live performance in front of the Lincoln Memorial, ditching her purple outfit for an all-black ensemble to introduce singer John Legend. The new VP, 56, wore a black blazer with silky lapels around a sequined cocktail gown by Sergio Hudson, Harper’s Bazaar noted.
“We want to be uplifted ideal now,” the 36-yr-aged designer, who is based in Los Angeles, told Harper’s. “So I mentioned, what if we make her anything sparkly?”
Even though the live performance stream only confirmed her from the midsection up, the silk tuxedo overcoat was ground-length and the gown — “a pencil gown, prolonged sleeves, with a robust shoulder,” according to Hudson — mirrored her type.
“We kept the silhouette extremely structured and personalized, because which is who the Vice President is,” the designer, who is black, extra. “But the liquid sequins give her glamour and glow, because her influence and the way she’s damaged barriers is a gentle for so lots of of us. Harris also shined through her speech.
