Katie Price’s sister Sophie says cruel teens called her ‘nasty names’ at school

Katie Price’s sister Sophie has opened up on what she went through at school as her older sibling rose to fame.

The 43 year old gained recognition in the mid 1990s for her glamour modelling work as she appeared in several tabloids and even featured on the front cover of Playboy magazine once.

During this time, Sophie, who is 11 years younger than Katie, endured her schoolmates calling her “nasty names”.

Sophie opened up on her experiences during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Monday 27 September, where she originally came on with Katie to speak about their new baby clothing line business.

“Do you ever get worried by the amount of attention Katie gets?” TV presenter Susanna Reid, 50, questioned, to which Katie immediately replied: “Well, you’ve grown up with it, haven’t you?”

Sophie then explained: “To be honest, she’s been in the public eye since I was about six so I don’t really know any different…”

Katie, who recently unveiled the cover of her memoir about her life with son Harvey, continued: “She got aggro at school,” as her sister repeated this before Susanna asked: “What happened at school?”

Sophie said: “Just like girls, just saying nasty things but when you’re like teenagers you know what girls can be like. But yeah, now it’s fine.”

Katie went on: “We get on so well… And here’s me saying I want a baby, I want a baby and luckily she’s just had a baby. So, it keeps me occupied.”

Susanna’s co-host Alastair Campbell, 64, then asked: “And Sophie, you’ve never wanted to go down the – how shall we call it – the beautification route? With all the stuff that Katie has done to herself.”

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but personally it’s not for me,” Sophie replied as her sister added: “She’s the natural one, but look you are naturally beautiful Soph.”

Earlier during their chat, Katie and Sophie revealed their terminally ill mum Amy is finally on the lung transplant list after months of waiting to see if she was eligible for it.

Katie told the ITV presenters: “I call her Ghostbusters…. Hi mum if you’re watching!

“And she [Sophie] says it’s like mum on a lunge line because around the house her oxygen pipe thing, it just follows her around the house. So when she tries to have a go at me, I’m like, ‘Mum, turn your oxygen up. Calm down.’ But other than that, she’s good.”

Sophie then revealed that she’s on the wait list to get a lung transplant as she said: “She’s getting on alright, she’s on the transplant list now as well.”

Katie, who offered her own lung to her mum previously, added: “Yeah, so she can only be four hours away now, wherever she is. So we hope she’ll get a lung transplant.”

The pair’s mum Amy, 69, suffers from an incurable lung infection called terminal idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and only has around 34 per cent of her lung capacity left.

The condition causes the build-up of scar tissue in the lungs and can lead to shortness of breath and respiratory failure. There is currently no cure.
