LMPD warns about buying on social media and online outlets, offers safe zones for in-person transactions


The Louisville Metro Police Department is warning people about using social media and other online outlets for shopping.The department said they have investigated recent thefts that have happened during these transactions.They put a post on their Facebook page to raise awareness about being careful when using social media sites to meet strangers buying or selling goods.Major Corey Robinson spoke on how people can protect themselves and those around them from falling victims to these kinds of robberies.”They’ll meet up and then that meeting turns into a robbery or a business deal gone wrong often times leaving the victim without the product or the money they came along with,” said Robinson.
