Gary Barlow and wife Dawn came ‘close to divorce’ after Star Wars faux pas

Gary Barlow and Dawn Andrews have been happily married for 21 years.

They’ve survived his super stardom as part of Take That, and have been lucky enough to become parents to three children – Daisy, Emily and Daniel.

They may have had many blissful times together, but Gary admitted there was one point he wasn’t so happy with his wife, after her decision as to what qualified for a car boot sale proved to be detrimental.

The 50 year old explained, “As a kid, I had all the original Star Wars figures and I never played with them. They were all still in their boxes.

“Then, in the early 2000s, Dawn decided to have a car boot sale to get rid of all the rubbish in the house.

“She came back with such a proud look on her face, and said, ‘I couldn’t believe it, as soon as I opened the boot, people were swarming round the car with their fivers out’.”

He continued, “It was like a dagger through my heart and I’m still not over it” before admitting, “It was honestly the closest we’ve come to divorce.”

We can understand Gary’s upset as some vintage Star Wars figures can sell for thousands!

Plus Gary has proven himself to be a huge fan of the sci-fi franchise. As a result he even bagged himself a part in the 2017 film Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

He had a non speaking role as a Resistance fighter in the climactic battle on mineral planet Crait, but fans were unable to spot him in the scenes.

Gary spoke about his adoration for the films with former bandmate Robbie William’s wife Adya Field.

On her podcast Postcards from the Edge he spoke about his experience speaking to Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker.

“I toured the Millennium Falcon, and then the director comes in and goes, ‘Mark Hamill was meant to meet you today but instead we’ve got him on FaceTime’ and I’m like, ‘Oh Mark, I’m so sorry you don’t have to do this’.”

He also said Mark Hamill signed a photo for Gary that read: “From one X-Wing pilot to another, hope you’ve had the greatest day.”
