MSP Takeout, Patios, and Indoor Dining Guide

Well. Who even remembers restauranting? We are at a new point in this pandemic journey. As the state moves toward re-opening, the Governor has allowed restaurants and bars to open patios and indoor seating with limited capacities! Someone can bring you a cocktail! As of June 1, many places saw their first full-service guests in nearly three months. But not everyone is ready to make the move back to table service with all the restrictions in place. And, without being back to full force, the majority will still have to count on takeout to help fill in the gaps.

We rejiggered the takeout list to include information about whether a place is opening for patio, indoor, or altering takeout in any way. A few things to remember:

  • Patio and indoor seating is limited to 50% capacity, with a max of 250.
  • You must have a “reservation” which means planning ahead to make one via phone or online, or walking up and providing your name and number so a rezzie can be made on the spot.
  • Employees must wear masks, but guests are not forced so. Though many places will ask that you wear one in and when walking around. Especially if you are using their restrooms.
  • There are time limits being used for reservations, usually it’s 75 minutes in the daytime and 90 minutes at night. Don’t make them kick your cute patooty out.
  • Service charges in lieu of tipping is making a big comeback with reopening.
  • Nobody wants to touch your cash. Paying by plastic or ordering online is the way this is being done.
  • Yes, you can still get booze with your takeout, so sally forth.

We are trying to keep up even when hours and menus and decisions change every day, so check before you go. And if you’re a resto that wants to add or make changes, send us a note to [email protected].
